The Southern Tier Super Smash Bros. scene is one that has shifted a lot in recent years, but one can always find hot spots of action at Binghamton University, the strong student-fueled scene in Ithaca, and in the Elmira-Corning area. While the events offered regularly have changed many times in names and hosts, the influx of new players from higher education and a dedicated local community have kept the region active year after year.
The region’s players are known for its willingness to travel and compete in other areas, and most recently cheered on Binghamton Melee player Jmook as he took on and beat many national figures at majors such as Genesis 8 and Smash Summit 13.
